Eurasia’s leading telecoms investor, Altimo, which has a 13.2% interest in Turkcell has provided general sponsorship of an exhibition dedicated to the famous medieval poet, Mevlana. On the 800th anniversary of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi’s (1207 - 1273) birth, Altimo joins UNESCO in celebration of the greatest mystical poets of Islamic history and commemorates this event through “Sovereignty of Dervishes, Dervishes of Sovereignty: The Mevlevi Order in Istanbul”. In the “Year of Rumi,” the exhibition is brought to local and foreign visitors.

Altimo hosts first London visit of traditional Vietnamese Water Puppetry

After excellent performance in Stockholm the traditional Vietnamese Water Puppetry was being arranged in London for the first time on the 26th September. The event took place in the private gardens of Regent’s College where a specially built theatre will hold the 60 tonne water tank for the performers. Altimo, the leading $30 billion international telecoms investment group, was hosting an evening of Vietnamese culture reflecting its continued focus on developing relationships and making new investments in high growth emerging markets, notably South East Asia. Just recently, a $1 billion investment project was announced by Altimo’s investee Vimpelcom to be made in Vietnam.

Altimo showed its concern in firming ties between East and West by organizing ah extraordinary performance. A traditional Vietnamese Water Puppetry show was arranged in Sweden for the first time. The performance took place in a huge purpose built pool at Gröna Lund in Stockholm.
